So you want to be a Metafit Instructor?

At the start of the month I flew up to Auckland to attend a course to become a Metafit Coach. I’d been wanting to do the Metafit course for over a year but the timings of the courses just never worked out for some reason or another.

Metafit is a style of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) which uses just your own bodyweight to form an amazing workout. Metafit can only be done in classes by a certified Metafit Coach, this means that you can’t just complete a Metafit workout by purchasing a DVD and doing it at home.

To become a Metafit Coach you need to have the relevant personal training background in order to understand the progressions and regressions as well as being able to instruct people to perform the exercises safely.

I’d heard a lot about the benefits of Metafit but had never actually tried a class, until the masterclass we took part in when we first arrived at the course. Good thing I agree with the philosophy and movements of the class given I was becoming a Coach! I thought even if I didn’t agree with the philosophy I would still come away with something valuable from the experience.

I really enjoyed the style of training, even though it was a lot more cardio than I am used to at the moment while in the middle of powerlifting training (4 weeks until Nationals, eeek!). The great thing about the Metafit style of training is that it really is perfect for all fitness levels as we can regress and progress all the movements as required and still make it challenging for everyone.

The core of the workout is that you need to work as hard as YOU can for the duration of the work periods and rest during the rest periods. The actual workouts range from 16-24 minutes, and trust me if you’ve done the work as hard as you can, you won’t want it to be any longer.

I think this approach to training will go well alongside our Bootcamp business and I’m looking forward to see how it is received at our Launch session this Saturday! We have around 40 people registered for two sessions, which we are doing at the discounted price of $5 per session and donating all the proceeds to Hospice.
