Create your home gym for under $250

It’s no secret that winter is here and it’s a lot harder to drag your butt to the gym. It’s super cold and dark in the mornings, and bed feels like the best place to be. After work it’s dark, and all you want to do is get changed into something more comfortable and flop on the couch and watch TV – right?

What if I could show you a way to workout at home using your new home gym, and have it paid for? No more costly gym membership and no having to leave the comfort of your own home to work out!

Create your home gym for under $250

By switching your home’s electricity to Genesis Energy on a 12 month Happy Winter plan you’ll receive up to $250 off your first electricity bill. Ka-ching! Now it’s more affordable to blast the heaters, meaning your home will be nice and warm.

Now that we have a nice warm home thanks to Genesis Energy’s Happy Winter plan, which is much more inviting than a cold gym with lots of sweaty strangers, let’s see how we can create a home gym for under $250!

Create your home gym for under $250

  1. // 10kg Slam ball ($29.95 from Number1 Fitness online)

Slam balls are great for a full body workout – you can hold onto them while performing exercises like squats. You can use them for uneven pushups, toe taps, slamming and ball clean and press.

  1. // 16KG Kettlebell ($63.20 from Number1 Fitness online)

A 16kg Kettlebell is a great weight for kettlebell swings. It’s also great for briefcase carries, and a heavier option to hold during your squats and lunges.

  1. // Foam Mat  ($5 from The Warehouse)

All good home gyms need a mat to complete your workout on, and this foam mat from The Warehouse is cheap and does the job just fine!

  1. // Foam Roller ($15 from The Warehouse)

Foam rollers are super important for rolling out your body before and after a workout. Foam rolling will help to release the tension in your muscles and help with recovery.

  1. // Weighted Skipping Rope ($14 from The Warehouse)

Skipping is one of the most underrated exercises in terms of cardio. Try skipping as hard as you can for a couple of minutes flat. Those minutes will feel like hours!

  1. // 8kg Kettlebell ($31.60 from Number1 Fitness online)

An 8kg kettlebell is a great size for smaller muscle groups, or if you are starting out with kettlebells. Think exercises like bicep curls, tricep extension, kettlebell snatches and overhead lunges.

  1. // Over Door Chin up bar ($12 from The Warehouse)

Chin ups and pull ups are one of the great determiners of raw strength. If you are able to pull your own bodyweight up, you are well above most of the population.

  1. // Red & Green Power Bands ($19 + $41 from Number1 Fitness online)

Power bands are generally used in powerlifting to either make lifts easier or harder. We often use them as an exercise tool in themselves, which is why I have included two different strengths above. The red band is great for warming up, doing single arm tricep pushdowns and facepulls where the green band is good for assisting on pull ups (if you are not quite at bodyweight yet) and for doing rows with.

Total Cost $230.75

  1. I’d put the cash towards getting my car key fixed. It’s one of those ‘push button’ automatic ones but has decided it doesn’t want to work now – and it’s NOT the battery.
So I need a replacement and it turns out those suckers cost $249 for the key and transmittor replacement. Plus my husband needs one as well. So frustrating.
Love the 16kg kettlebell prize. That’s the size I use at the gym, it’s super heavy but not too heavy . . . unless I have to do more than 30 swings in a row (UGH)!

Look after the customers you already have or they may be lured by offers to switch from your competitors Genesis.

  74. I would put $250 towards a gift to my parents for all their help and support with my wedding earlier this year ….still thinking of someway to repay them!
