Love: 2014 Goals

Every year I make a list of things I want to accomplish, see or do during the year. Sometimes they all get crossed off but more often than not I am a bit too ambitious or things change and a couple are left standing when the new year is rung in.

For 2014 I have more goals than ever and have broken them down into the different parts of my life, I have fitness goals, business goals, blog goals, financial goals and travel goals as well as some other random goals.

2014

I like putting my goals on the blog as it is a solid record of what I wanted to do (at least at that point in the year – like I said, things change and sometimes goals are no longer relevant). Some of these goals have been listed below – hopefully I can cross off everything this year!

·         To run a half marathon (EEP!)
·         To travel to at least one new place in NZ
·         To travel to at least one new place overseas
·         Complete a photo book
·         Tick at least 5 items off the bucketlist (I have a list of 7 which I think could be possibilities for this year)
·         Obtain the Personal Training certification.

I also have specific savings goals for each of my savings accounts – one is for travel, another for a house (ha! living in Auckland that is a bit of a joke, but I am still saving away for when the time comes to start looking at a house – a little each year adds up in the end) and another towards investing when the time is right.

I have specific goals relating to my two different side activities as well, (one being this blog and the other being my heel business) and the number of followers etc I want to get/sales made and a couple of other goals for each one.

The first one on the list – to run a half marathon – is a big scary goal for me and now that I’ve written it on the blog I should really pay the entrance fee for my chosen half and really get the ball rolling! Although being achey like I am at the moment for a few days after my first ‘long’ run it would be easy to back out! The half I have chosen also works in with one of my other goals to visit somewhere new in New Zealand 🙂 I will write more about this goal in a future blog post.

Did you meet your goals / new years resolutions last year?
Have you set any this year?

  1. Keep on keeping on with your goals, and run girl run! One of my goals for this year is to expand my cooking skills, maybe learn to confit something or braise meat, or use more spice in a dish. Hoping to learn more and create tastier meals 🙂 I also love visiting new places in NZ, recently visited Waihi Beach in the Coromandel, highly recommend it if you haven’t been!

    1. Expaning your cooking skills is an awesome goal for the year!! I love using herbs and spices in dishes and really should look at others and branch out more often! I haven’t actually been over to Waihi before (that I remember) but I have been to Coromandel. Might have to add it too the list since it’s not far away now that I’ve moved to Auckland!

  2. Love your goals 🙂 Good idea with the savings accounts, it’s amazing how much it adds up over time if you don’t touch it. Have you decided what half marathon you’re going to enter? Once you’ve got a training plan, it’s just a matter of following it day by day and you get there!

    1. Yep I decided on the Ohope Express over Easter weekend and I was sticking to the training plan to a T until I rolled my ankle at netball and am now in a moon boot 🙁 I’m still hoping when I go back next week and find out more (they need the swelling to go down to confirm if its just sprained or sprained and fractured) that I will be able to heal and still run the half even with the reduced training.
