Homemade Coconut Yoghurt in 6 Easy Steps

Homemade Coconut Yoghurt in 6 Easy Steps

I’ve been wanting to try coconut yoghurt for the longest time, but the accountant in me can’t justify spending so much on yoghurt!

Coconut Yoghurt has become popular over the last few years for a number of reasons, it is a dairy free alternative which happens to be gluten free and paleo friendly, it is also incredibly creamy.

I stumbled upon the Mad Millie Coconut Yoghurt Kits while googling how to make coconut yogurt (as you do!) and thought this might be a great way to try my hand at making coconut yoghurt.

It’s pretty easy as everything you need (excluding two tins of coconut milk or cream and a touch of sugar (optional)) was included in the coconut yoghurt kit.

This is one of those recipes that doesn’t even really feel like a recipe and there aren’t a tonne of ingredients which is awesome!

Directions

  1. Sterilise all the equipment
  2. Heat two tins of coconut milk or cream to 50-55degrees (the kit comes with a thermometer for this), stiring to ensure it doesn’t scorch.
  3. Add in thickener (included in the kit) and sugar if using and heat up to 75 degrees until mixture is thickened.
  4. Cool to 40 degrees and then mix in yoghurt culture.
  5. Store overnight somewhere warm.
  6. Eat!

See how easy that is? The hardest part was having patience while the coconut cream was getting up to temperature and then cooling down again and that’s simply because I’m not very patient! The thermometer really does all the work for you and you just have to check it every now and again to check if it’s where it needs to be and move on to the next step.

To be in to win a Coyo kit for yourself thanks to Mad Millie simply answer the following question:

Have you ever tried coconut yoghurt before?? If so, what did you think?

  21. Yes I tried it recently and its absolutely amazing!!!!! I managed to try the raglan yoghurt in Dunedin because it was half price due to being past the best before date. I got very lucky! However I’m a young 20 year old Dunedin nursing student and can’t justify spending so much on it even though it’s so damn good 🙁
