The best of NZ – My Favourite part of New Zealand!

Where is your favourite part of NZ? Or where would you most like to travel too in NZ? When reflecting on this question I always knew it was going to be a hard one to answer, I mean seriously – have you seen how beautiful our country is?!

Let’s start at the top of the island and work our way down shall we?

My favourite part of New Zealand could easily be Auckland. There is the city and then there are so many amazing things to see and do to take advantage of NZ’s natural beauty by just leaving the city.  I mean check out the majesty that is our largest city:

Maybe Waiheke Island is my favourite place in New Zealand. It’s close enough to Auckland but so relaxing and so damn beautiful!

Or what about Taupo? Taupo has the lake, the mountains and is a lot more laid back than Auckland. It also has the touristy vibe which is super exciting!

Or maybe it could be somewhere on the east coast of the North Island like Napier or Whakatane?

Or what about my hometown of Wanganui? Sure we are a small town but there are so many things to do within a couple of hours of us, and the city is super pretty!

Or maybe the city I was born in, Wellington? Our capital city has so much going for it, with that city feel but without the huge hustle and bustle that can be overwhelming.

Perhaps we need to head South to find my favourite place in New Zealand? I always enjoy a trip to the South Island and if you thought the North Island was beautiful, the south Island is incredible too!

I could go on and on with photos from our Beautiful country as I love New Zealand so much. As much as I love to travel and see the history and beauty of other countries I am always wowed whenever I go anywhere in New Zealand at just how freaking lucky I am to live in such a beautiful country.

So – the burning question – where is my favourite place in New Zealand?

There is NO WAY I could narrow this down to just one place! I really do enjoy living in Wanganui as it is a much quieter pace of life, cheap housing and a better lifestyle and so close to such amazing beauty that is New Zealand. We are within 2-3 hours of Taupo, Wellington, Napier and New Plymouth which gives us a huge area of places we can get away too easily for a quick weekend getaway. We are only a 1 hour flight up to Auckland and not too much further to head down to the South Island.

I could never choose just one place to be my favourite place in New Zealand, although as you can tell by the photos, anywhere with beautiful scenery will do me just fine. I’ll always take the country and natural beauty over a city even though I do enjoy city getaways. I am very happy with where we call home, yet there is still so much more of NZ to get out and explore!

So what is your favourite part of New Zealand? Or where would you most like to visit for those overseas visitors?

  1. Definitely too much of an ask to pick just one place! I’d recommend visitors don’t miss Wellington, Queenstown or the central North Island though. I’ve not set foot in Whanganui but home towns always hold a special place don’t they?

  2. LOVE THIS POST. I’m actually taking part in this linky too (post should be up tomorrow morning) but I have to agree that natural beauty and the countryside is where it’s at for me. Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate cities too… but where I feel truly at peace is when I’m amongst nature/on a beach.
I NEED TO COME DOWN TO WANGANUI oxoxoxo

  3. Of course I love Christchurch as I live there, but I absolutely can’t wait to take the boys to Rotorua later in the year. I had the most amazing family holiday there myself when I was 8 and want to relive that experience with my own family.
